A beautiful, very human story.

The Orthodox Church also employs the sacrament of reconciliation ("the confessional"), where we confess our sins to Christ through our spiritual fathers. The structure is somewhat different, but there are, of course, a multitude of similarities.

And how easy it is to worry that your confession is "not good enough." You think to yourself, did I miss anything? Was I repentant enough? Was I sincere enough?

But like the priest in this story, we have to remind ourselves that God's mercy is there waiting for us to take hold of. And so often, we are our own greatest hindrance to that Divine mercy.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, haver mercy on us sinners!
