Incensepunk is going free

Stories will no longer be paywalled!

Thank you all for your generosity in supporting this magazine. We believe in paying authors, and your early support has been a great step in that direction. With only a few more paid subscribers, we will be able to open up submissions and offer a token $50 payment to authors. We hope to eventually get to paying semi-pro rates, a major step which will draw even more great authors to our pages!

However, we also want to be sure our stories are getting out there. Right now, only a few readers are able to access the fiction we are putting out, which is a major impediment to our goals in making incensepunk a movement, not just a publication.

We are taking a step of faith and making all our posts (except those specifically addressing paid subscribers) available to all subscriber levels. Our hope is that a wider readership will be reached this way, and that among them, others who love the idea of faith in science fiction will become paid subscribers because they, too, want to see authors paid for their work.

That said, there are a few features that will be available only to paid subscribers. Comments on posts will continue to be available only to paid subscribers. (This is mostly a practical means to prevent spam and eliminate the need for moderation.) In addition, chat has now been enabled for paid subscribers. This is a place where the most invested can get together and pitch ideas for articles, build a community, and shape the future of the magazine. We also hope, when possible, to offer scheduled chats with authors following a story’s release.
